Really beautiful the Alps! Quiet, blue sky, snow mountain, green woods…

Last month, during two weeks in May, 2008, a series of attacks took place all over South Africa. In a clash between the poorest of the poor, gangs of local black South Africans descended on informal settlements and shanty towns, armed with clubs, machetes and torches, and attacked immigrants from Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabawe. Locals accused these immigrants of taking jobs away from them, among other grievances.

The Millau Viaduct is a large cable-stayed road-bridge that spans the valley of the River Tarn near Millau in southern France. It is the tallest vehicular bridge in the world, with one mast’s summit at 343 metres (1,125 ft) — slightly taller than the Eiffel Tower and only 38 m (125 ft) shorter than the Empire State Building.

Terracotta Army- The Terracotta WARRIORS Xi’an Shanxi province. China

China’s 2,000-year-old Terracotta Army was one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of the 20th century (1974 actually). These world-famous Terracotta Warriors are part of a vast underground necropolis for China’s first Emperor, Qin Shi Huangdi, that took 700,000 workers 36 years to create.

This remarkable feat in the construction of Emaar’s iconic super tower at the Burj Dubai Downtown development was accomplished in less than 900 days since excavation work started in January, 2004. Work is on course for a 2008 completion with one new level added every four days.
